The Story so far...

UECE was created in 1997 by a small group of researchers of the Economics Department of ISEG, School of Economics and Management of the Technical University of Lisbon.

In 2002 UECE obtained its legal autonomy from ISEG, becoming a non-profit association. UECE was a founding member of the Institute for Complexity Sciences, which was created in 2004.

The main source of financial support for UECE has been Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.
